C34869 MTA 207th St. Sewer Relocation

CAC Industries successfully completed the $95mm MTA 207th Street Yard project ahead of schedule, delivering high-quality results with no safety incidents. The work was conducted adjacent to and beneath an elevated railroad structure surrounded by residential and commercial buildings. The project involved relocating underground utilities to clear the way for the installation of an interceptor sewer pipe, which was installed using micro tunneling through eight jet-grouted SOE tunneling pits along 10th Avenue and 215th Street in Manhattan. The pits ranged from 15 to 35 feet deep. Additional work included the construction of two sewer regulators on 10th Avenue and the installation of electrical and communication conduits to power new pump stations for the sanitary sewer system. To enhance storm surge flood protection, manholes throughout the yard were modified, requiring track removal and replacement along with signal and power work. All activities were carefully coordinated with NYCT yard personnel, other contractors, and MTA Supplied Services during planned track outages (General Orders). This project exemplifies CAC’s ability to deliver complex urban infrastructure efficiently and safely while meeting the unique challenges of working in a densely developed area.
